This policy describes what CodeAndBuild collects when you use this website, how advertising cookies work, and the choices you have. It covers the pages published on this site.

Who we are#

CodeAndBuild publishes technical guides for software developers. In this policy, "we" means the operator of this website. For privacy questions, email privacy@codeandbuild.dev.

Information we collect#

We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not run a checkout. We collect information in the following ways.

• Messages you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address, the content of the message, and any details you choose to include.
• Server logs. Our host may record your IP address, browser type, referring page, the date and time of the request, and the URL you requested. We use those logs to operate and protect the site.
• Advertising data. When an ad loads, Google and its partners may collect or receive a cookie ID, IP address, and information about the pages you view.

Cookies and similar technologies#

A cookie is a small text file that a site or a service stores on your device. Similar technologies include pixels and local storage. This site does not use cookies to run a login. Cookies and similar technologies are used when advertisements load, and may be used to measure how those ads perform.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block cookies, parts of the site should still be readable. Ads may be less relevant, or may not load.

How we share information#

We share information with advertising partners, including Google, as described in this policy. We share it with the company that hosts the site, only so the site can run. We may share information if the law requires it, or to respond to a valid legal request.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising in exchange for money.

Your choices and opt-out#

You can opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info (opens in a new tab) and the Network Advertising Initiative (opens in a new tab). If you are in the European Economic Area, you can also use Your Online Choices (opens in a new tab).

Those opt-out tools set a cookie or use a browser signal. If you clear cookies later, you may need to opt out again. Browser controls that block third-party cookies are another way to limit advertising cookies.

If you emailed us and want us to delete that message, write to privacy@codeandbuild.dev. We will delete it unless we need to keep it for a legal obligation or a security record.

Data retention#

Server logs are kept for a limited operational period, long enough to investigate abuse and to understand outages, and then removed or aggregated. Email you send us is kept long enough to handle the request and to keep a record of the reply. Cookie lifetimes are set by the provider that created the cookie. We do not maintain a user database.

Children#

This site is written for working developers and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email privacy@codeandbuild.dev and we will delete it.

International visitors#

The site is available on the public internet. Hosting and advertising partners, including Google, may process information in the United States and in other countries where they operate. Those countries may have data-protection rules that differ from the rules where you live.

Changes to this policy#

We update the effective date at the top of this page when the policy changes. The version published here is the current version. If a change materially affects how we use information, we will describe that change on this page.
